Hi Joseph - I thought I'd post here instead of emailing everything... great addition to the site. And erinannie, what a great Big you are, very cool.

Here's something that combines 2 of your great loves - cars and St Paul - the weekly hot rods on University Ave. I think they're still happening, here's a link I found: http://www.waymarking.com/waymarks/WM4EZ9_Porkys_St_Paul_MN. Maybe call Porky's to see if this still occurs, I didn't find anything more recent. I recall folks setting up chairs & coolers as if it were a parade and just chill all night watching the cars go by. I know later in the summer there's an annual car show at the State Fair grounds, which makes for a really spectacular weekend of cruising.

Keep up the great work, let's network all the fabulous Bigs out there and share these inspiring stories!

My Little and I rarely structure our activities. But I do have to admit, that when they are structured, we have more fun. I choose to have her every Monday, plus sometimes on Saturdays as well. We don't get tired of each other, so it works out well. Our Monday routine is simple. I pick her up from either daycare or the school and we go straight to McDonalds. We get hot fudge sundaes and do her homework. When I first pick her up she's usually a little tired and quiet. By the time we leave McDonalds the sugar has kicked in and she's ready to play. Then we take off for whatever activity we have planned for the day. Recently we've gone to the nickel arcade (we weren't that impressed), kite flying (we'll consult with Mother Nature better next time), shopping (we're girls, this always works our well for us), and some bigger ticket activities. For the next few weeks I then take her to soccer practice. Our Monday time is limited, but me driving her to soccer is the only way she could play this year. And I am happy to make that happen for her.
Some of our more structured activities-
I just moved into a new house with an empty guest bedroom. She calls it her room (not her bedroom, just her room). She's already storing her favorite toys in there. I gave her full reign to do what she wanted in there. As a result, we've painted the walls lavander, and hung gumballs from the ceiling. (Insane, I know.) We've also gone to some second hand shops to buy furniture, and we've repainted and fixed them up together. She loves getting to have her own space to be creative. And I love being able to give her something like that. This upcoming weekend we will be going out and buying a bed for that room. I'll be surprising her with a quilt my mother found for the bed. I can't wait to give it to her.

Water balloon fight. you can get them at the dollar store. Fly kites, zoo, make ice cream, cook homemade pizza, walk on summit or lake of the Isles and pick out your favorite houses. rent a canoe at calhoun ,Isles etc. I guess as a book I would say try James and the giant peach. Plant some veggies and watch them grow. See if there is any free music events... I like your list I think its great.
